In addition to leaving a public review on TripAdvisor, diners can include direct feedback with owner or manager of the restaurant’s TripAdvisor listing.
We want to make sure that TripAdvisor is a safe and trustworthy source for travel advice and information. To help us with this goal, we ask that you abide by TripAdvisor’s Content Policy and the following rules for Direct Messages:
TripAdvisor takes verbal harassment and abuse seriously. The use of Direct Messages to harass users is strictly prohibited. Please report any inappropriate behavior by clicking the three dots in the top right hand corner of the message and choosing “Report.”
Attempts to impersonate other members, TripAdvisor Staff, or any reproduction of private correspondence with TripAdvisor Staff are prohibited.
Do not include links or content solely included for promotional purposes in your Direct Messages.
Contacting owners with irrelevant or unwanted Direct Messages is prohibited.
Owners should also not be irrelevant and respond solely to the feedback.
It is also prohibited to blackmail owners or ask for free items or discounts in exchange for deleting one’s own review.
Offering incentives, discounts, upgrades, or any special treatment in exchange for writing or editing reviews is strictly prohibited over Direct Message, as are threats or pressure to remove negative reviews. These sorts of behavior are considered fraudulent, and are subject to penalties.
